  • Apple DLS Synth Module

I'm exploring how deep I can get in sound design with just the Apple DLS Synth. I believe it has some potential if programmed creatively.

A routing option for the DLS Synth is "audio in". I at first didn't notice this, but after seeing the port in the routing, I immediately loaded a nice long sample into the N3 Sample Synth and routed the audio output of the Sample Synth to the audio input of the DLS Synth.

Audio does not pass through the DLS Synth and I can't figure out why this port is there. Is there some type of processing / modulation the DLS Synth can perform on incoming audio?

no, i think no (but never tried) in alternative you can use several instances of it and the Numerology audiomixer module and/or the VCA module to obtain a sort of multilayered sound.
For mangling the audio that came from the Synthsampler you can use the Apple AU FX

Nope -- that's a bug, the audio input should not be there...

      Cheers,

Right, I understand I can use the AU FX and can multilayer and all that. Thanks for your input. I'm just wondering why there's an Audio Input on the DLS module...
